چکیده

In this article, we examine the impact of terrorist attacks on asylum-related migration flows. So far, literature that examines “push factors” such as terrorism explain forced has omitted fact vast majority people to flee typically do so toward other locations within country. The novel feature our research is estimation a structural gravity equation includes both international and internally displaced persons (IDP), theoretically consistent framework allows us identify country-specific variables terror attacks. For purpose, use information number asylum applications, IDP, in each country for sample 119 origin developing countries 141 destination over 2009–2018. empirical results reveal several interesting policy-relevant traits. Firstly, abroad still minimal compared but globalization forces are pushing up ratio. Secondly, violence positive significant effect flows relative IDP. Thirdly, omitting biases downward applications. Fourthly, observe regional heterogeneity flows; Latin America, have much larger applications IDP than Asia or Africa.

We start with a brief introduction ...

Do climate variations explain bilateral migration? A gravity model analysis

© A m Abstract: This paper investigates to what extent international migration can be explained by climatic variations. A gravity model of migration augmented with average temperature and precipitation in the country of origin is estimated using a panel data set of 142 sending countries for the period 1995 to 2006. We find two primary results. First, temperature is positively correlated with mi...

A Dynamical Model of Terrorism

This paper develops a dynamical model of terrorism. We consider the population in a given region as being made up of three primary components: terrorists, those susceptible to both terrorist and pacifist propaganda, and nonsusceptibles, or pacifists. The dynamical behavior of these three populations is studied using a model that incorporates the effects of both direct military/police interventi...
